Output dropped by IFM

LSE-listed ferrochrome producer International Ferro Metals (IFM) CE David Kovarsky said he was confident that low-cost ferrochrome producers, such at IFM, would be “rewarded” when demand for the commodity picked up again.

Australian iron ore company Cape Lambert has reached an agreement with Marampa Iron Ore Limited, a subsidiary of African Minerals, to increase its investment in Marampa, the holder of the Marampa Iron Ore Project in Sierra Leone to approximately 35%.

Rio Tinto Alcan plans to implement further production curtailments to align production with customer demand. Further to curtailments which occurred in the fourth quarter of 2008, totalling five per cent of global production, Rio Tinto Alcan plans to reduce aluminium output by another 230,000 tonnes.
